What is Bladder Cancer Naples?
The bladder is an organ in the pelvis that has flexible and muscular walls. It’s function is to store the bodies urine (liquid waste made by the kidneys) before it leaves the body.
Urine is carried to the bladder through tubes called ureters which then expands as urine fills the bladder.
When one uses the bathroom, the muscles in the bladder will contract to then push the urine out through the body via a tube called the urethra.
When the cells of the bladder grow abnormally, they can become bladder cancer resulting in one or more tumors in the bladder.
Causes
There are several individual or combination of factors that can cause bladder cancer. One of the most common is contact with tobacco or other cancer-causing agents. Genes and certain types of infections may also contribute to bladder cancer. Another risk factors include radiation beams aimed at the pelvis, and patients with other cancers, such as lymphomas and leukemia who receive treatment with cyclophosphamide.
Although there are many other potential factors with regard to bladder cancer, one of the other frequent ones we see is workplace related where patients come in contact with chemicals used to make plastics, paints, textiles, leather and rubber.
Bladder Cancer Symptoms
Although some people have symptoms that suggest bladder cancer others may feel nothing at all. That being said some symptoms should NEVER be ignored.
