Philip Wong, M.D.

Dr. Wong is a board certified Urologic Surgeon who completed his training at the University of Connecticut. Following graduation, he joined a private practice Urology group in Salem, MA where he practiced General Urology for 15 years. He has subsequently relocated to Naples where he is proud to join Naples Urology Associates & 21st Century Oncology.

Dr. Wong practices General Urology, caring for patients with disorders of the urinary system, kidneys, bladder, ureters, prostate, and penis. Some of the disorders treated include voiding dysfunction, erectile dysfunction, prostate cancer, enlarged prostate, UTI, kidney stones, bladder stones and sterilization/vasectomy. He is excited to offer the latest in minimally invasive office-based therapies for BPH (enlarged prostate) and office-based no scalpel vasectomy.

Dr. Wong takes pride in educating his patients, making sure they have an understanding of their urologic problem as well as the plan. He feels that your health is best managed with a team approach.

Arturo Balandra, M.D.

Dr. Balandra obtained his undergraduate education at Vanderbilt University as a Chancellor Scholar with a merit-based full tuition scholarship. After graduating Summa Cum Laude with a dual degree in Neuroscience and Economics, he went on to earn his M.D. degree as a Gamble Scholar at University of Pennsylvania Medical School, which consistently ranks as one of the top medical schools in the country. Dr. Balandra then completed his residency in Urology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, one of the busiest and most comprehensive urology programs in the nation.

During his training, Dr. Balandra published articles in stone disease and urologic oncology.  He also developed a particular interest in both Male and Female Pelvic health and completed several specialized training programs in the matter.  Throughout his years of training, he gained extensive experience in the diagnosis and treatment of erectile dysfunction, incontinence, and voiding dysfunction including penile implants, artificial urinary sphincters, male and female sling placements, sacral neurostimulation, and laser treatments for prostatic enlargement, among others.

Dr. Balandra’s outstanding training in the most cutting edge research and treatment techniques spanning across all aspects of Urologic disease allows him to understand that there are many options for the care of each individual patient.  His philosophy is to work together with patients, offering them a breadth of treatment options regarding their ailments and inviting them to take part in their own care through thoughtful and informed decision making.

Dr. Joanna Chon, M.D., FACS

Dr. Joanna Chon NaplesDr. Joanna Chon brings a wealth of expertise in all areas of general urology with specialized training in male and female voiding disorders .   She is board certified in  Urology and the newly created specialty of Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery.    Dr. Chon graduated from the University of Pennsylvania where she earned her bachelors’ degree in Bioengineering and attended medical school at George Washington University.   She completed her residency training at the University of Maryland and then completed a fellowship in pelvic floor reconstruction, voiding dysfunction, and urodynamics at the Tower Institute of Continence, Cedars Sinai Hospital, in Los Angeles .  Following her fellowship, Dr. Chon returned to Philadelphia where she was an Assistant Professor at Thomas Jefferson University School of Medicine.  Prior to moving to Florida, she was in private practice in the Philadelphia suburbs.  She was voted by her peers in Philadelphia in 2011 and 2012 as a “Top Doc” in the Philadelphia magazine. She joined Naples Urology Associates in June 2012.  In Naples, she was selected as a “Top Doc” in 2013 and 2014 by GulfShore Life magazine.

Dr. Chon serves on the board of Society of Women in Urology. She is also a current member of American Urological Association and Society of Urodynamics, Female Pelvic Medicine & Urogenital Reconstruction.  Dr. Chon has also published articles in peer-reviewed medical journals, written chapters for urology textbooks and taught numerous surgical courses on pelvic floor reconstruction and vaginal sling techniques.

Dr. Chon stays on the forefront of urological techniques by keeping abreast on the cutting edge technology and procedures. She is an established pelvic floor reconstructive surgeon and offers a vast array of surgical techniques including: vaginal, laparoscopic and robotic approaches.  She specializes in cystocele repairs, rectocele repairs, sacrocolpopexy and vaginal sling procedures.  Dr. Chon follows all industry standards and FDA guidelines for the use of pelvic mesh.  Besides surgical intervention, Dr. Chon also offers a wide variety of conservative and medical treatments to help her male and female patients with voiding and pelvic floor disorders. She advocates the use of Pelvic Floor Therapy and biofeedback and has established a Pelvic Floor Therapy Clinic that teaches both male and female patients the proper techniques to strengthen the pelvic floor muscles.

Dr. Chon also enjoys seeing men and women for general urological needs. She can help men and women manage and treat their general urological needs including kidney stone management, incontinence, dysuria, hematuria, biopsies of the bladder, bladder cancer surveillance and cystoscopies. Specifically, she can help men with BPH, PSA surveillance, Erectile Dysfunction as well as prostate biopsies, TURPs, and vasectomies.  Dr. Chon offers a wide variety of products, treatments and services that range from conservative to surgical therapies. She believes in educating the patient about their condition, discussing the treatment options with the patient and developing a treatment plan that allows the patient to make informed decisions about their urological care.

Marc Joel Guttman, D.O.

Dr. Guttman, received his undergraduate degree in Biology at Brooklyn College Scholars Program, Honors Academy CUNY. He then attended the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine, where he received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Guttman continued on with internships at Maimonides Medical Center and Lenox Hill Hospital in New York. Thereafter, Marc moved to Philadelphia where he trained at Albert Einstein Medical Center and proudly became Chief Resident in Urology.

Dr. Guttman has published and contributed to several scientific articles, grand rounds presentations and spoken at internationally respected medical society meetings, on a wide range of topics, with a focus on minimally invasive and laparoscopic treatment of urological pathology and cancer.

Dr. Guttman joined Naples Urology Associates in the summer of 2011.

David Ornstein, M.D.

Dr David Ornstein NaplesDr. Ornstein has experience in all areas of urologic oncology with particular expertise in robotic prostatectomy, robotic cystectomy with urinary diversion and robotic partial nephrectomy. Having performed more than 1,000 robotic surgical procedures, Dr. Ornstein is one of the most experienced robotic surgeons in the United States. An accomplished laparoscopic surgeon, Dr. Ornstein began performing robotic radical prostatectomies in November 2003. Since that time he has expanded the use of robotic surgery for the treatment of bladder and kidney cancer. In fact, Dr. Ornstein was the first surgeon in North America to report having completed a cystectomy with ileal neobladder entirely with the DaVinci Robot. In addition to training urology residents, Dr. Ornstein has taught and proctored several surgeons throughout the United States. He has lectured extensively on the topic of robotic surgery both national and internationally. He has performed multiple live robotic surgeries including a live robotic female cystectomy at a robotic symposium in Seoul Korea. Dr. Ornstein has specific expertise in the evaluation and management of patients with elevated PSA  and hematuria. He has published and lectured extensively on the proper use of the PSA test and on other methods for early prostate cancer detection.

Dr. Ornstein received a BA in biochemistry from the University of Pennsylvania in 1988 and an MD from Washington University in St. Louis, MO in 1992. He completed a residency in urologic surgery at Washington University where he also was the recipient of an American Cancer Society Clinical Oncology Fellowship. Following residency, Dr. Ornstein completed a fellowship in Urologic Oncology at the National Cancer Institute, where he concentrated on both open and laparoscopic surgery for treating all forms of kidney cancer. After his fellowship, he joined the faculty of the University of North Carolina where he specialized in urologic oncology and began his research on the identification of new prostate cancer biomarkers. Following three years in North Carolina he was recruited to join the faculty in the Department of Urology at The University of California, Irvine. In September 2006 Dr. Ornstein joined the clinical staff of Long Beach Memorial Medical Center and the Todd Cancer Institute as Medical Director of Urologic Oncology and Robotic Surgery. In August 2009 Dr. Ornstein relocated his family to Naples, Florida where he opened Advanced Urology & Robotic Surgery. He also became one of the founding members of the Prostate Cancer Institute of 21st Century Oncology.

Dr. Ornstein’s career has already been highlighted by the receipt of numerous awards in recognition of his clinical and academic excellence. In 1996 he received first place in the clinical category for the resident essay contest at the annual South Central Section meeting of the American Urological Association. As an oncology fellow, Dr. Ornstein was awarded first prize for his research paper at the Clinical Sciences Fellows Symposium 2000. As faculty at the University of North Carolina, he received a Young Investigator Award from CaPCURE and the Edwin Beer Award from the New York Academy of Medicine. At the 2001 meeting of the American Urological Association, Dr. Ornstein was awarded the Best Abstract Prize in the prostate cancer category. He has been named "Best Doctors" in America from 2006 - 2012 and Top Doctor by Castle & Connolly in 2012. In 2007, he received the “Young Investigator Award” from the Society of Urologic Oncology. This award recognizes excellence in clinical practice and/or basic research that contributed to improvement of clinical care and progress in science in the field of Urologic Oncology. In 2009 he was named as one of the Physicians of Excellence by the Orange County Medical Association.

Dr. Ornstein has received over 1 million dollars in competitive funding for prostate cancer research from federal and non-profit organizations. Dr. Ornstein has authored more than 50 scientific manuscripts, review articles and book chapters. He is an active member of the American Urological Association, American Association of Cancer Research, Society of Basic Urologic Research and The Society of Urologic Oncology. He has served on the editorial boards for Investigative Urology and Clinical Proteomics, and on a review panel for the Department of Defense Prostate Cancer Research Program.

Although basic and translational research has always been an important aspect of Dr. Ornstein’s career his true passion is patient care. Dr. Ornstein has been and remains fully committed to providing the best possible care for patient’s with urologic malignancies. He believes that it is a privilege to help patients solve their problems and that a truthful and interactive relationship between the patient and surgeon is critical.

Kendall Wise, M.D.

Dr. Kendall Wise - Naples Urology

Dr Kendall Wise NaplesDr. Kendall Wise is a Summa Cum Laude graduate of the University of Mississippi.  After graduation, he attended Vanderbilt University, from which he received his medical degree.  He completed his Urology residency at Duke University Medical Center in 1988 and has practiced Urology in Naples, first in solo then group practice, ever since then.    

Dr. Kendall Wise joined 21st Century Oncology in June, 2009 in order to continue practicing excellence in medicine.  His office is located at 1044 Goodlette Rd. N.  Dr. Wise specializes in general urology, treatment of benign and malignant diseases of the urinary system and the male genital system.  He has published many articles and spoken at several national urology conferences.  

Dr. Kendall Wise recently received his eighth consecutive selection as one of Castle Connolly’s “Top Docs”.  Dr. Wise and his wife, Ruth, have two children, twins Phoebe and Alex, and enjoy supporting several  local charities including the American Cancer Society.
